The upgraded runway of the Bahrain International Airport, which involved paving and lighting, was inaugurated by deputy prime minister Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
19 July 2007

Shaikh Ali expressed his thanks and appreciation for the leadership's concern to upgrade the vital facility which, he said, helped boost the national economy.

He said the runway infrastructure was modernised, including the lighting system, which would enable it to re-ranked in the second category within the citaa, the international organisation in charge of ranking international airports.

It will also allow the airport to receive airbus 380 planes.

Shaikh ali also hailed the efforts of the airport personnel in providing the best services for passengers.
