Bahrain's airport wins global accolade
17 June 2006

Bahrain's hospitality was recognized internationally yesterday with another major award.

Bahrain International Airport's "Dilmun Lounge" was presented with the Highly Commended Lounge: Middle East/Africa Award in the Priority Pass Lounge of the Year 2006 Awards.

Deputy Premier and Transportation Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa received the award from Priority Pass director Sue Burns.

Priority Pass members were asked to award points to lounges they have visited based on the quality and range of the facilities available, comfort and ambience of the lounge and quality of service of the staff.

"Our members are some of the most knowledgeable travellers around," said Ms Burns.

"By the very nature of their membership in Priority Pass, they are frequent users of airport lounges throughout the world.

"We're extremely proud of all of the lounges that participate in our programme and I am honored and delighted to be able to present this award to the Dilmun Lounge."

From more than 500 lounges taking part in the Priority Pass programme, the Dilmun Lounge was only one of 11 to receive an award based on the quality of facilities and service.

"The Dilmun Lounge has now been open for one year, and The priority is to offer passengers comfort and serenity and therefore this award confirms our objectives are being met.''

Priority Pass, the world's largest independent airport VIP lounge access programme, was launched in 1992 with the objective of providing frequent travellers with airport lounge access irrespective of their class of travel, airline flown or existing membership in an airline loyalty programme.
