Civil Aviation Affairs staff invited to join Bahrain Airport Company
15 February 2010

An internal human-resource campaign has begun at the Bahrain Airport Company, in which more than 400 staff of Civil Aviation Affairs have been invited to renew their employment, under the Bahrain International Airport’s new management by the Bahrain Airport Company.

Bahrain Airport Company is the entity which is already in process of improving the operational efficiency and infrastructure within the Bahrain International Airport. Formed on 17 Jan 2008, Bahrain Airport Company formally took over responsibilities for the operation and management of Bahrain International Airport. The transfer of operations, maintenance and engineering staff of Civil Aviation Affairs symbolizes the beginning of the massive improvements planned for the Bahrain International Airport.

In a statement issued to the transferring Managers and staff of the Civil Aviation Affairs, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company, Dr. Osama Al Ali commented, “The Bahrain Airport Company is focused on making the Airport a Global Aviation Midpoint, by consistent delivery of our key strengths, one of which is the speed of transactions within the airport, and to optimize the operational efficiency of those transactions. Our staff is the strongest factor which will contribute to the success of this goal.”

Acting Vice President of Human Resources, Mr. Hamed Abdulrahman, added, “Our dedication to our staff includes an overhaul in the operational procedures, as well as a further education to expand the knowledge base of these members.”

A key messaging workshop was held at 2 locations over 2 days, to explain to the transferring Civil Aviation Affairs staff members details of their potential new employment, which include Job specifications, Pay scales, Working hours and Leave entitlements – after an initial alignment of the Bahrain Airport Company’s mission and vision. This resulted in an open forum for the staff members to clarify their queries and concerns. A staff helpdesk has also been set up at the Bahrain International Airport for further questions staff members may have.

Mr. Ebrahim Yousif, a Senior Civil Engineer and attendee at the workshop was optimistic about the potential of this new opportunity. “We were looking forward to this day. We will work as a unified team at Bahrain Airport Company, to build a better airport experience for the partners and the passengers.”

His optimism is echoed by a colleague, Mr. Salah Al-Tamimi, a Ground Services Specialist.

“I have been working with the Civil Aviation Affairs  for 20 years, and the outlook is positive. I’m personally looking forward to a change in the work processes and an increase in productivity. We look forward to staff training to increase our knowledge and on-the-job practice, since Bahrain Airport Company has partners from good international sources.”

The staff on-boarding will be effective from the 1st of March 2010.

Dr. Al Ali concluded, “we are confident that the transferring staff already have aviation DNA in them. The operational processes we are introducing ensure that the staff’s key contributions are optimized, in order for the Bahrain International Airport to become a world-renowned corporation that sets new industry standards for speed and efficiency.”
