BAC delivers additional car parking capacity at BIA
6 October 2010

As part of its commitment to improve the facilities and services to all Bahrain International Airport (BIA) users, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) launched today the second phase of its car park expansion program.

The first phase saw the opening of the passenger pick up lane by the Arrivals area and the creation of 150 parking spaces in the main car park, now classed as Park A. Work has just started on the creation of a new short term car parking facility, Park B located to the East of Park A, boasting a capacity of 686 parking spaces. Simultaneously Park D, located adjacent to Bahrain Airport Services’ Headquarters, is being prepared to cater to long term car park users with a capacity of 850 spaces.

The scope of the work includes an overhaul of these existing parking areas with a revamp and upgrade of the facilities and services offered before opening them to the public. “Work is expected to be completed in the beginning of next year and will see the number of parking spaces available to BIA passengers and users more than double from the current 1050 spaces available through Park A to 2585 spaces,” commented BAC CEO Gordon Dewar.

“At BAC, we are well aware of the capacity constraints at the Airport and we are working closely with our partners, our client air carriers and Airport operators, to come up with solutions and new developments that will in turn help them serve their clients better, mainly BIA’s passengers. The car park expansion is one example of many initiatives that BAC is spearheading to enhance the Airport and establish it as a world class airport,” continued Mr. Dewar.
