Mock Crash drill held

A full-scale emergency exercise was conducted at the Bahrain airport, the test response levels of various government departments.

The drill being held every two years as per the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization. A Gulf Air aircraft was used to simulate the exercise. Smoke in the cockpit forced the pilot to go in for emergency landing which resulted in him crashing the aircraft. The Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs, Captain Abdul Rahman Al Gaoud said he was very happy with the response of the various government departments.

He said “We decided to organize the exercise in the afternoon because of the traffic. We wanted to gauge how long would it take all the services to move through the traffic and come over on the site of crash”.
