Gulf Air yesterday opened a route to China when its first flight to Shanghai took off from Bahrain International Airport.
Bahrain International Airport director Mohammed Tamer Al Kaabi, who was present on behalf of the Civil Aviation Affairs Under-Secretary Captain Abdul Rahman Al Goud, said the new link is a great achievement and a welcome addition to the BIA. "We welcome more flights between the two countries and will exert efforts to develop trade and commerce links, in addition to further strengthening tourism, culture and historic ties," he said.
The service is initially four times a week, but will become a daily operation with the implementation of the airline's winter schedule later this year and would be operated by an Airbus A340-300, offering first, business and economy class service.
The airline is hoping to fly to more destinations in China in the near future as part of its expansion plans. Onboard will be award-winning in-flight service, which includes sky chefs and sky nannies.
