Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) announced today that it will be opening four new car parking spaces on December 15th at Bahrain International Airport (BIA). The completion of the second part of the multi phase car park expansion program comes just in time for the busy year- end holiday season. Airport users will now have more space and options to based on their short term and longer term needs.
Car Park B located to the east of Park A (the main public car park) and boasting a capacity of 700 parking spaces, will be designated for short term users, whilst long term users will find three different dedicated car parks areas at their disposal, Park C, D and E, with a total capacity of 2450 spaces. Furthermore, long term parking users will be able to park their car for free whilst BAC finalizes the refurbishment of these areas. Users parking in these areas have access to a free shuttle bus service that operates regularly between the car parks and the Airport 24-hours a day. The refurbishment work will introduce even better facilities and services and once ready, tariffs will be amongst the lowest in the region.
Car Park B will operate under a similar tariff system as the one currently used in Car Park A, running mainly as a low-cost short term parking facility. A revised tariff system will be introduced in Car Park A as it will then operate as a premium parking facility for those seeking convenience. The revised tariff structure will coincide with more capacity and more parking options depending on the preference of the user. As part of BAC’s commitment towards enhancing BIA in line with the Vision 2030, all revenue generated through the car parks will be reinvested in developing the Airport by upgrading its facilities, capacities and services.
“Since taking up responsibility for the management and operation of BIA, we knew that addressing the car park capacity constraints was one of our first priorities,” commented Gordon Dewar CEO. “We have worked hard to open Car Park B in time for the busy holiday period and along with the revised tariff structure we will be opening long term Park C, D and E for free (temporarily) to encourage users to park in the appropriate areas based on their preferences. We are now offering more space and more choice to our users.”
BAC have already launched an awareness campaign throughout BIA to inform the public that more parking spaces will soon be made available, which will be followed up by a campaign including in the city to inform the public of the extra parking space and options for parking. Directional signage is being put up around the Airport, directing the public to the various car park areas. Information will also be made available on BIA’s website: www.bahrainairport.com
