Rules and Regulation on Obtaining Visit Visa to Bahrain

Health
No Vaccinations are required to enter Bahrain from any country. If passenger arrives from countries having areas with outbreaks Of plague and/or other diseases, the World Health Organization recommendations will be observed.

Customs
Free import by passengers of 18 years and over:
• 400 cigarettes, 50 cigars and 1/4 kilo of tobacco, in opened packets;
• 8 ozs of perfume;
• 1 litre bottle of alcoholic liquor and 6 cans of beer for non-Moslem passengers only;
• Gifts up to maximum of BHD 250.

Import permit required for arms and ammunition, mentholated spirits, intoxicating drugs and jewelry.

Pets
  1. Birds:  an import permit must be obtained from the Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain before shipping the birds, import permit is also required for transit
  2. Cats and dogs:  import of dogs and cats (from all countries) is allowed.  Import permit from Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain is required.  Pet must also be accompanied by a Health Certificate stating clearly that the animal is free from any disease and is fully vaccinated.
  3. Pets may enter as passenger’s checked baggage or as cargo.  It is also permitted for small pets such as birds, cats and dogs to be carried in the cabin provided that they are in suitable cages, however, for larger dogs airlines are required to obtain prior permission from the Civil Aviation Manager airport operations.
  4. Prohibited:  any wild animals without an Import Permit from Veterinary Quarantine in Bahrain.

Non-compliance with the import regulation will result in deportation of the pet to point of origin at owner's expense or destroyal of the pet. Any costs incurred arising from the failure to comply with the import regulations, such as handling fees and animal shelter fees will be charged to the passenger accompanying the animal. Furthermore, the carrier concerned will be charged for the transferring of the animal between the Passenger and Cargo Terminal.
