Gala dinner held to welcome Bahrain International Airshow 2018 participants

His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of Gulf Air Group Holding, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed attended a gala dinner last night hosted at the Bahrain National Museum to mark the official opening of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2018 and welcome its participants.

The event reflected the wealth and depth of Bahraini culture and included musical performances by the Mohammed bin Faris Band and the Qalali Band. In attendance were the Gulf Air Group Holding Board of Directors, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) management, as well as heads of delegations participating in the event, and guests from other countries.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the supervision of His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the BIAS Supreme Organising Committee, BIAS 2018 runs until 16 November at the Sakhir Air Base.

HE the Minister extended his thanks to His Majesty the King for inaugurating BIAS 2018, which is considered yet another achievement for the Kingdom during His Majesty’s reign. HE the Minister also praised the BIAS Supreme Organising Committee, chaired by HH Shaikh Abdullah, for developing BIAS into one region’s leading aviation events, noting this year’s edition is the biggest and most successful to date. He also expressed his sincerest thanks to the senior government officials and leaders of the global aviation industry, which have come from around the world to participate in BIAS 2018.

HE the Minister said: “The eyes of the global aviation community are on the region, which has one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world. To keep pace, many regional airports are working on expansion and development projects, including Bahrain International Airport, which is currently being transformed through the milestone Airport Modernisation Programme into a state-of-the-art boutique airport, on par with the best in the world.”

He added: “To accommodate its exceptional growth and provide exhibitors more time to prepare, BIAS 2018 was moved from its regular slot in January to November. I can confidently say it has been well worth the wait. Participation is at an all-time high and the Exhibition Hall has doubled in size to meet the increased demand. The airshow’s record-breaking size is not only a milestone for the Kingdom, it provides even more opportunities for the global aerospace community to explore potential partnerships.”

HE the Minister also extended his thanks to Her Highness Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa for the opportunity to host the gala dinner at the Bahrain National Museum, one of the Kingdom’s most important national monuments and tourist attractions.
