Bahrain Airport Company welcomes inaugural Salam Air flight from Muscat

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), welcomed the arrival of the inaugural Salam Air flight from Oman to Bahrain, following the commencement of this new service. Omani Ambassador, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Bahrain, Abdulla bin Rashid bin Ali Al-Medelwi received the inaugural flight with BAC Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, and other senior management in attendance. On board was Salam Air Chief Executive Officer Captain Mohamed Ahmed, senior management, and other delegates.

On this occasion, Al Binfalah congratulated the Ambassador of Oman on the occasion of the 49th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman and wished the people of Oman continued progress and prosperity.

Al Binfalah said: “We are pleased to welcome Salam Air and look forward to working with them to deliver an improved travel experience for its customers connecting to BIA. We are confident that the introduction of this new route will further strengthen the historic ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, making it more convenient for the growing number of passengers traveling between our countries for business, education and leisure.”

He added: “Following the launch the new Passenger Terminal Building in the first quarter of 2020, we expect to see a surge in the number of airlines operating out of BIA. Our main goals are to ensure that all carriers experience improved levels of service, and that passengers enjoy a memorable airport experience designed to deliver comfort, connections, and character.”

Salam Air, Oman’s first low cost carrier, will operate a direct service between BIA and Muscat International Airport three times per week. The airline now flies to 10 destinations in the GCC, including Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi.
