TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR PASSENGERS AT BAHRAIN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

LIQUIDS, GELS & AEROSOLS IN HAND - BAGGAGE

Effective from the 30th September 2007 Bahrain International Airport will introduce restrictions on the amount of liquids, gels & aerosols which can be carried by passengers in their hand –baggage. These restrictions will apply to all flights departing from Bahrain International Airport.

The new restrictions are as follows:
Passengers will only be permitted to carry liquids, gels & aerosols in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml.
These containers must be packed in ONE transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of not more than 1litre in capacity (approx.20cm x 20cm).
Only one re-sealable plastic bag will be permitted per passenger.

The plastic bag containing your liquids, gels, & aerosols must be presented separately at the security screening point for x-ray

Exemptions:
Medicines and special dietary requirements (including baby food), required during the flight, may be carried in addition to the above.

It is recommended that passengers carry supporting documentation (ID cards, letters from doctors etc) regarding their medication needs. Security screening staff and airline representatives may request presentation of supporting documentation to assist in determining whether the medications or medical items are exempt.

In addition, the name on the label of the prescription medication should match the name on the boarding pass.

Passengers are advised to check-in all liquids, aerosols and gels items not required during their flight or those which are in excess of the above limits in their check-in luggage.

Duty Free Purchases:
Passengers can continue to purchase liquids, aerosols and gels, such as liquor and perfumes at Duty Free outlets located after the security control point at Bahrain International Airport.

Such purchases where required will be placed in Security Sealed Tamper-Evident bags by the shop, with the receipt clearly displayed in the sealed bags. Passengers are advised to seek assistance from shop staff on what purchases can be brought into their destination, or onto their connecting flights at another airport.
